Beatriz Milhazes: Screenprints 1996 – 2011, the exhibition currently on view in The Gallery at Windsor, has extended its stay until April 20, 2012. Originally scheduled to close in February, 2012, the exhibit has been so favorably received that it will be held over for an additional time period.
Beatriz Milhazes is an internationally renowned Brazilian artist, whose exuberantly colored, rhythmically constructed artworks have been exhibited worldwide. Beatriz Milhazes: Screenprints 1996 – 2011 is the first comprehensive display of the artist’s bold and abstract works on paper.
Every year for the next three years, London’s Whitechapel Gallery will curate a new exhibition at The Gallery at Windsor, creating a ‘salon’ like ambience in which leading figures from the art world can meet to discuss and debate ideas.
The Hon. Hilary M. Weston, philanthropist wife of international retail magnate Mr. W. Galen Weston, established the Windsor community and worked closely with Whitechapel Gallery to bring this series of exhibitions to Windsor. She commented, “Windsor has a fantastic history of showing world-class contemporary artists, including Ed Ruscha, Peter Doig and Alex Katz. Beatriz is a brilliant addition.”
The Gallery at Windsor sits at the center of the Windsor community which spans 416 acres of lush barrier island between the Indian River and the Atlantic Ocean in Vero Beach, Florida. Established in 1989, Windsor was designed by renowned town planners Andrés Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk in the New Urbanism style of residential living, one that offers public and community spaces framed by timeless architecture and landscape design that celebrates its unspoiled tropical setting.
