Celebrated author and Vanity Fair Writer-at-Large James Reginato visited Windsor this past Friday, January 6, for a presentation and signing of his much lauded new book Great Houses, Modern Aristocrats, published by Rizzoli. A reception followed, where Windsor Members and their guests mingled with the author over cocktails. The beautiful book presents the intriguing stories and celebrated histories of some of the leading families of Great Britain and Ireland and the opulent residences that have defined their heritages.
“We are so pleased Mr. Reginato was able to spend some time at Windsor and share his book with our Members,” said Betsy Hanley, President of Windsor. “Hearing his first-hand insight into the homes and their owners and the fascinating stories behind them made for a greatly enjoyable evening.”
Filled with stunning photography, Great Houses, Modern Aristocrats is a remarkably intimate and lively look inside some of Britain’s stateliest houses, with the modern-day aristocrats who live in them. The book presents a tour of some of England’s finest residences, with many of the interiors shown for the first time. Published by Rizolli in the fall of 2016, the book is already in its second printing.
Other contributors to the book are two very good friends of Windsor. The superb photography is by renowned Vogue, The New Yorker, and Vanity Fair contributor Jonathan Becker and the foreword was penned by Viscount Linley, Hon. Chairman for Christie’s in Europe, the Middle East, Russia, and India.
“It was really a delight to speak at Windsor – and to stay there, too! I could not have asked for a better audience at my talk, everyone was so engaged and hospitable,” said Mr. Reginato. “I was so impressed by Windsor itself, too. Everything is so beautifully done there. It’s a really special place.”
