2020 Windsor Charity Polo Cup Raises $333,000 for Three Local Charities

    March 11, 2020 | Windsor Florida |

On Saturday, February 15, 2020, Windsor co-founder The Hon. Hilary M. Weston, alongside Salvatore Ferragamo, co-hosted the fifth biennial Windsor Charity Polo Cup in support of three local community charities. Windsor donated a total of $333,000.00 in net proceeds to be divided equally between the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, the Literacy Services of Indian River County and the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County. Each charity will receive $111,000.00. Following the widely successful event, Windsor is honored to announce that this year’s Charity Polo Cup raised the highest amount of charitable dollars in the event’s history.

“We are humbled to announce the tremendous success of the 2020 Windsor Charity Polo Cup event,” said Betsy Hanley, President of Windsor. “Not only was it one of our most thrilling polo matches, but the funds we were able to raise for our three beneficiaries are all thanks to the generosity of our supportive Members, our sponsors and the Vero Beach community.”

Presented by PNC Bank, the event featured a world-class roster of international players and an array of festivities that drew an attendance of close to 2,000 people. The two teams competed in one of the highest scoring matches in the event’s history, with the final score 11-8 for team Hawthorne PNC Family Wealth, captained by Ferragamo, emerging triumphant for his first ever win at the event. More than 800 attendees enjoyed the match at an elegant luncheon in the field-side marquee, while other spectators watched on picnicking in the tailgating area or viewed the match from grandstand seating. Television’s John Walsh, host of ID’s In Pursuit with John Walsh and a regular supporter of the biennial event, served as the luncheon’s Emcee.

In addition to an enthralling main polo match event, attendees of the Windsor Charity Polo Cup also enjoyed a remarkable junior match, a Specialty Retail Village featuring a curated selection of pop-up boutiques and the popular Chateau d’Esclans’ Whispering Angel pop-up bar at the center of the shopping experience. Also, as part of the festivities, the event was host to a themed tailgate competition co-judged by National Media Sponsor Town & Country Editor-in-Chief, Stellene Volandes, Vero Beach Museum of Art Executive Director/CEO, Brady Roberts, and Everyday Elegance interior decorator, Alex Papachristidis.

The 2020 Windsor Charity Polo Cup was supported by both national and local sponsors. Luxury brand and corporate sponsors include PNC Bank, Torwest, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Audi of Melbourne, CBRE, Laurent-Perrier, Chateau d’Esclans, Casa Dragones, Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Co., Sysco, Town & Country magazine and Vero Beach magazine, among others.
