Windsor Hosts Wine Master Class with Expert Anthony Giglio in Member-Only Wine Cellar

    March 22, 2018 | Windsor Florida |

On Thursday, March 15, 2018, Windsor invited Members to participate in an intimate master class in its newly completed Wine Cellar, followed by a multi-course pairing dinner at the Weston Guest House. Hosted by renowned wine expert Anthony Giglio, the ‘Savor Windsor’ wine event provided Members with an opportunity to experience a tasting in the newly stocked Windsor Wine Cellar.

Officially opening this season, the new wine storage facility has the capacity to hold 40,000 bottles, plus an additional 15,000 if case stacking is used on floor space. The Wine Cellar offers ample room for the Club’s wine inventory as well as the growing collections of the Windsor Wine Association membership.

Windsor worked with international consulting firm WineTrend to concept and develop the new facility. With close to 70 members, Windsor’s flourishing Wine Association leadership also provided valuable input on the design. An inviting tasting room that can accommodate small to medium-sized tastings features state-of-the-art wine cellar management software by eSommelier. Members are able to catalog and access their inventory through an online portal, where they also can review notes on wines and research values.

To kick off the two-part ‘Savor Windsor’ event, Anthony Giglio, who is an author, wine writer for publications including Food & Wine, and Global Wine Director for The Centurion Lounge, guided Members through a tasting master class as they sampled the renowned wines of The Spire Collection.  Comprised of the most esteemed wineries from the Jackson Family portfolio, the tasting highlighted selections from the mountain vineyards of Napa Valley and Sonoma to the remarkable hillsides of Bordeaux and Tuscany. Selections included:

Hickinbotham 2014 Trueman Cabernet Sauvignon, McLaren Vale, Australia
    Arcanum 2010 Valadorna, Tuscany
Château Lassègue 2010 Lassègue, Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux
Vérité 2014 La Muse, Sonoma County
La Jota 2013 W.S. Keyes Merlot, Howell Mountain, Napa Valley
Cardinale 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Taking place in the beautiful great room at the Weston Guest House, the dinner reception showcased additional selections from The Spire Collection, paired with a delectable seafood and beef menu designed by Windsor Chef Robert Meitzer. The Weston Guest House, located just a short walk from the Village Centre, features seven well-appointed guest rooms surrounded by a lushly landscaped courtyard and inviting pool. The guest house is available to Members and their guests and is used for family reunions, bridal parties, private social events, board meetings and corporate retreats.

“I was delighted at the opportunity to connect with the Members of Windsor and share some remarkable wine selections with them,” said Giglio. “Being among such an engaged group of participants who have developed an eclectic palette for fine wines, it was great to introduce them to or reacquaint them with the diverse offerings from The Spire Collection.”
