Windsor Proudly Supports The Deborah Voigt / Vero Beach Opera Foundation

    March 28, 2018 | Windsor Florida |

Windsor is honored to have hosted Soprano Meryl Dominguez for an operatic concert at Windsor’s iconic Town Hall on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, in support of the Deborah Voigt / Vero Beach Opera Foundation.

Accompanied by acclaimed pianist Mary Pinto, Dominguez performed an assortment of opera arias and musical theater pieces to an enthusiastic audience. Following the performance, members and their guests were invited to join Windsor for a champagne reception.

“We feel very fortunate to have such an outstanding opera company in Vero Beach that supports talented young singers with mentoring and scholarship programs such as the Deborah Voigt / Vero Beach Opera Foundation. It was wonderful to hear opera sung so beautifully by Ms. Dominiguez in our very own Town Hall,” said Windsor’s Marketing Director Jane Smalley.

The Deborah Voigt / Vero Beach Opera Foundation was chartered in December 2007 with the purpose of promoting and supporting talented young opera singers through a mentoring program. Promising young singers are offered the opportunity to spend time with Ms. Voigt and experience operatic artistry at the highest level, as well as a chance compete in the Deborah Voigt International Vocal Competition. Windsor is proud to be a sponsor of the 2018 operatic competition, providing a generous prize to the second-place contender.

“What a wonderful opportunity it was to bring one of Deborah Voigt’s rising young stars to Windsor’s Town Hall. Ms. Dominguez was very impressed with the amazing acoustics there, and was pleased to perform before such a receptive Windsor audience. We look forward to collaborating with Windsor in the future to bring outstanding talent to their residents,” said Dr. Joan Ortega-Cowan, President, Deborah Voigt / Vero Beach Opera Foundation.

A Resident Artist at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia where she studies with William Stone, and a 2016 winner of the Deborah Voigt / Vero Beach Opera Foundation Vocal Competition, Dominguez has performed in various roles including Die Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus and Adina in L’elisir d’amore.

Dominguez’s performance was held at Windsor’s distinctive Town Hall, which was designed by architect Léon Krier. Referencing the American vernacular in its design, the structure rests on a podium with a simple rectangular plan. Thirty white columns support a steeply pitched roof that rises above the skyline of the Village. The Town Hall also serves as a non-denominational chapel and venue for weddings, concerts and lectures.
