Windsor Announces 2020 Charity Polo Cup Beneficiaries

    February 5, 2019 | Windsor Florida |

The Windsor Charitable Foundation Board is pleased to announce Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, the Literary Services of Indian River County, and the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County as the three benefitting charities for the 2020 Windsor Charity Polo Cup. The net proceeds for the biennial polo event, taking place on Saturday, February 15, 2020, will be donated to all three charities in support of their respective causes.

“The Foundation’s goal for the biennial polo event is to benefit multiple charities in our community that support the needs of children, adults and animals,” said Betsy Hanley, President of Windsor and Vice Chair of the Foundation Board. “As our event has grown significantly over the years, we have made the decision to support three local charities that meet our criteria and we want the Foundation’s donation to make a major impact on each organization.”

The three selected charities have earned a Gold Star and 3-Star ratings by GuideStar and Charity Navigator respectively, which are two of the nation’s leading charity assessment organizations. All three charities are locally based, have Windsor Members on their boards and have a substantial number of Windsor Members as supporters and donors. The Windsor Charitable Foundation Board believes its support of these three charities will make a significant impact and help the Foundation continue to elevate the Windsor Charity Polo Cup as a premier sporting event and the Foundation’s flagship fundraiser.

The Windsor Charity Polo Cup is recognized as the signature high-goal charity polo match of the season and the 2018 event featured an exciting roster of top-level international players, including Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras and Rodrigo Andrade. The 2018 Charity Polo Cup raised $280,000 for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s charities at the local and national level.

More information on plans for the 2020 Windsor Charity Polo Cup are forthcoming. For more information about the Windsor Charitable Foundation, please contact Pat Palmer at 772 388 8441, pat.palmer@windsorflorida.com and visit www.windsorflorida.com/the-windsor-charitable-foundation/.
