The Foundation
About the Foundation
Established in 2015, The Windsor Charitable Foundation, a 501c3 organization, was created as an avenue for Windsor Members to give back to the local community. Its primary goal is to use the power of philanthropy to change people’s lives and improve our community.
The Foundation raises funds from within the Windsor community and through fundraising events for the purpose of making grants to fund programs offered by local and national non-profit agencies. The Foundation seeks to make grants to agencies whose programs contribute to the health and vitality of the community. Primarily, grants are awarded to support basic human needs such as food, shelter, assistance with disabilities/health issues, children’s education, medical research as well as animal advocacy. In addition, the Foundation provides support to Windsor employees experiencing unforeseen hardship.
Past Events
In 2020, the Windsor Charity Polo Cup, the Foundation’s flagship fundraising event, raised $333,000 in net proceeds, which was divided equally among the event’s beneficiaries, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, the Literacy Services of Indian River County and the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County. Each charity received $111,000. Following the enormously successful event, Windsor was honored to announce that the 2020 Windsor Charity Polo Cup raised the highest amount of charitable dollars in the event’s history.
Presented by PNC Bank and co-chaired by The Hon. Hilary M. Weston and Salvatore Ferragamo, the event featured a world-class roster of international players and an array of festivities that drew the attendance of close to 2,000 people. The two teams competed in one of the highest scoring Windsor Charity Polo Cup matches, with the final score 11-8 for team Hawthorne PNC Family Wealth, captained by Ferragamo, emerging triumphant for his first ever win at the event.
The date for the 2022 Windsor Charity Polo Cup is Saturday, February 19.
Windsor continues to expand the Windsor Charitable Foundation’s impact on the local community by adding new fundraising events under its umbrella. In 2019, the Foundation made over $14,000 in donations to local nonprofit organizations including the Vero Beach Opera’s scholarship fund for rising young singers, Ballet Vero Beach for their community engagement programs and the Vero Beach Museum of Art Summer Art Camp for underprivileged children in Indian River County.
