About the Foundation
Established in 2015, The Windsor Charitable Foundation, a 501c3 organization, was created as an avenue for Windsor Members to give back to the local community. Its primary goal is to use the power of philanthropy to change people’s lives and improve our community.
The Foundation raises funds from within the Windsor community and through fundraising events for the purpose of making grants to fund programs offered by local and national non-profit agencies. The Foundation seeks to make grants to agencies whose programs contribute to the health and vitality of the community. Primarily, grants are awarded to support basic human needs such as food, shelter, assistance with disabilities/health issues, children’s education, medical research as well as animal advocacy. In addition, the Foundation provides support to Windsor employees experiencing unforeseen hardship.
In 2022, the Windsor Charity Polo Cup, the Foundation’s flagship fundraising event, raised $350,000 in net proceeds, which was divided equally among the event’s beneficiaries, the Ocean Research and Conservation Association and the Environmental Learning Center. Each charity received $175,000 in support of its respective causes.
Following the enormously successful event, Windsor was honored to announce that the 2022 Windsor Charity Polo Cup raised the highest amount of charitable dollars in the event’s history.
Presented by PNC Bank and co-chaired by The Hon. Hilary M. Weston and Salvatore Ferragamo, the event featured a world-class roster of international players and an array of festivities.
Honoring Windsor’s co-founder, W. Galen Weston who passed away in April 2021, the two teams were named Maple Leafs and Windsor Park. Playing on the Maple Leafs team were Sebastian Koga, Hope Arellano, Mike Azarro and Freddie Mannix. Playing on the Windsor Park team were Salvatore Ferragamo, Fefu Pansillo, Lucitas Criado and Pedro Guttierez.
The date for the 2024 Windsor Charity Polo Cup is Saturday, February 17.
Windsor continues to expand the Windsor Charitable Foundation’s impact on the local community by adding new fundraising events under its umbrella. Also in 2022, The Windsor Charitable Foundation raised more than $11,000 for Indian River County charities including the Vero Beach Opera, Pelican Island Conservation Society, Ballet Vero Beach and Safe Space, Inc.
